Our guiding principles include: - Attracting and retaining a skilled and diverse workforce - Valuing teamwork, openness, accountability, productivity, and employee development - Providing all customers with courteous, responsive, accessible, and seamless quality services - Taking initiative to identify, analyze, and solve problems - Collaborating with stakeholders to make informed decisions **SUMMARY** Works as a senior electrician at Charlotte Douglas International Airport primarily performing high level work installing wiring, plugs, cabling, lights and switches; locating and repairing malfunctions in electrical circuits/equipment; inspecting, servicing, testing, performing PM’s and repairing systems. Performs other general maintenance work incidental to above duties as necessary to keep buildings in working order, including basic HVAC and plumbing. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** - Installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems. - Provide lead direction and training to other employees while working in field. - General building maintenance work incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order. - Compile lists of equipment, tools and supplies needed. - Operate cars, vans, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment. - Inspects assigned Airport construction projects. Coordinates work with contracted construction inspectors and tenants. - Extensive knowledge of other airport systems including HVAC, plumbing, generators, data emergency systems, aircraft fueling systems and electrical vehicle chargers. - Subject to emergency call back for equipment repairs and inclement weather. **SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES** - None **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **Required Education and Experience** - High School diploma (or GED equivalent) - Three years of related experience - Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. **Required Licenses or Certifications** - State Issued Driver’s License **COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES:** **Knowledge of:** - Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including cabling and communications wiring. - North Carolina Electrical Code and building codes. **Skill in:** - Skills to read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints. - Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships. - Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. - Skills to calculate cost estimates and measure items. **Ability to:** - Ability to perform journey level work on electrical and mechanical systems. - Read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints. - Lead others on the job site and act as leader in the field. - Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors and tenants, representing the airport in a professional manner. - Follow verbal and written instructions. - Complete computer based Work Orders and notes **WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS** *The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
