Requires a NMEE98J License or ability to obtain within one year from date of hire, plus valid driver's license. ## **Position Details** **Position Title:** Electrician **College/Division:** Facilities and Services **Department:** 500700-FS ELECTRICIANS **Location:** Las Cruces **Offsite Location (if applicable):** **Target Hourly/Salary Rate:** 21.11 **Appointment Full-time Equivalency:** 1.0 **FLSA Status**: Non-Exempt **Bargaining Unit Announcement:** This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME). **Contingent Upon Funding:** Not Applicable **Standard Work Schedule:** Standard (M-F, 8-5) **If Not a Standard Work Schedule:** **Job Duties and Responsibilities:** Under general supervision, performs electrical repairs and maintenance of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. Requires interpretation of wiring diagrams or schematic drawings. May develop wiring diagrams. May include maintenance of electronic or solid state controls having interlocking or interdependent circuits. Has working knowledge of the National Electric Code. ## **Qualifications** **Required Education and Experience:**High School diploma + 3 years of relevant experience or an Associate's Degree + 1 year of relevant experience. **Equivalent Qualifications:** **Preferred Qualifications:** **Special Certification/Licensure:**Requires a Journeyman Electrician's License NM (EE98) or ability to obtain a New Mexico Journeyman Electric License within a year from date of hire. ## **Working Conditions and Physical Effort** **Environment:** Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. **Physical Effort:** Moderate physical activity. **Lifting Requirements:** Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. **Risk:** Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
