DME Specialist- Urgent Care Weekends

## Description **Summary/Objective** Maintain and use equipment and supplies necessary to provide accurate fitting and removal of DME/casting products. Educates patients regarding products and proper care and maintenance of products/casts. **Essential Functions** Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Responsible for ordering of DME and other supplies and maintaining appropriate par levels in the office. 2. Ensures DME/casting orders are entered into the electronic health record so that the items can be billed appropriately. 3. Provides accurate fitting of DME/casting products and educates patients and/or caregiver regarding the products and how to use and take care of them. Including gait training and donning/doffing of item. 4. Assists in evaluation of new DME/casting products. 5. Validates preauthorization (if necessary) before dispensing DME items. 6. Prepares patients with physical and verbal cues for application and removal of casts and splints. 7. Prepares patients skin/incision for casts/splints with wound dressings removal and applications. 8. Educates patients and/or family members on proper cast and splint care. 9. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. 10. Other duties as assigned. **Competencies** 1. Orthopedic/general medical terminology 2. Work under pressure with a positive attitude 7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills **Work Environment** This job operates in a professional clinical environment. This position will not and may not act independently. **Physical Demands** Varied activities including walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Does require standing and walking for long periods of time. Assists with transfer of patients and must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. **Position Type and Expected Hours of Work** This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. **Travel** Travel between OrthoSC locations is expected. **Education and Experience** 1. High School Diploma or equivalent 2. Experience with fitting and billing of DME/casting products preferred **Required qualifications** 1.
