Under the direction of the Chief, District Police, the District Police Officer will perform police patrol, preliminary and follow-up investigative duties; protect District property and personnel. **This is a Full-Time 12-month position. The initial salary placement will be $76,440. Working Hours: Rotating shifts and days off. 10-hour shifts. The District currently has the following shifts:** **Shift A: M-Th - 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.** **Shift B: M-Th - 2:00 pm to 12:00am** **Shift C: T-Fri - 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.** **Shift D: M-Th - 8:00am to 6:00pm** **Shift E: Wed-Sat - 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.** *College of the Sequoias Community College District serves a diverse community of learners and is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution. We seek candidates who exhibit an understanding and commitment to the community college mission, and who have a passion for student success.* Job duties of the District Police Officer include: - Patrol school property, grounds, streets and parking facilities for the prevention and detection of crimes relative to the campus. - Prepare and maintain police files, logs and reports regarding preliminary and follow-up investigations, vehicle collisions and other related matters. - Assure physical security of District property after school hours; check doors, windows, locks and alarms. - Issue citations for violation of college ordinances and state laws. - Contact, stop and identify suspicious persons on campus and adjacent streets and compete field interview cards as needed; interrogate suspects involved in previous crimes. - Establish and maintain contact with students and general public; cooperate with local law enforcement agencies in prevention, control and investigation of illegal activities affecting college personnel, students and facilities. - Properly process crime scenes; conduct on scene investigations to obtain physical evidence and statements of witnesses for making arrests or criminal prosecution. - Conduct initial and follow-up investigations of incidents and crimes occurringon campus; testify in court as necessary. - Provide a variety of services including vehicle lockouts, escorts, CPR and first aid to accident victims, fingerprinting employees, applicants and suspects and contacting students and faculty regarding emergencies. - Utilize a variety of defensive equipment including sidearm, aerosol irritant, baton and handcuffs. - Direct traffic as necessary. - Utilize the District’s integrated software in performing the required duties of the position. - Perform related duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualifications** **(Education & Experience):** Any combination equivalent to: - Graduation from high school **and** - Successful completion of the California Commission of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) basic course within the past three years or currently employed full-time as a California Police Officer or deputy sheriff. Licenses and Other Requirements: - Valid California driver’s license. - An incumbent must be insurable at the “standard rate” by the employer’s insurance carrier at all times while employed in this classification by the College of the Sequoias. - Candidates will be subject to a thorough medical and psychological examination and background investigation prior to employment. - Vision 20/70 correctable to 20/20. - No color blindness. - Normal hearing. **Working Conditions** **:** *Environment* - Indoor and outdoor environment. - Subject to working nights, weekends, and holidays. - Work occasional overtime, with additional compensation. - Perform routine repetitive duties to completion. - Attend in–service training. - Work under adverse weather conditions *Physical Abilities* - 99 Yard Obstacle Course: Run…
