Director of Special Services JobID: 561 Position Type: Administration/Director of Special Services Date Posted: 7/8/2026 Location: Central Office Date Available: 07/16/2026 Closing Date: 07/13/2026 Additional Information: Show/Hide BOARD OF EDUCATION of the MAGNET SCHOOLS in the COUNTY of MIDDLESEX NOTICE of OPENING 2026-2027 Director of Special Services Brief Description: The Board of Education of Middlesex County Magnet Schools is currently seeking applications for the position of Director of Special Services, which is available for the 2026-2027 school year. A Director of Special Services (DSS) leads, coordinates, and supervises all CSTs, guidance counselors, school nurses, and student assistance coordinators. This includes planning and implementing professional development opportunities. The DSS may also act as a liaison between districts, county offices, state departments, and outside agencies. Qualifications: 1. Appropriate certification as a Principal. 2. Master's degree in a related field. 3. A minimum of five years of satisfactory teaching or CST experience. 4. Knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements. 5. Experienced collaborating with staff to plan, organize, and implement professional development. 6. Demonstrate leadership in budget development, fiscal responsibility, data analysis, and coordination of assessment programs. 7. Coordinate grant processes (evaluations, budgets, reports, applications) to ensure compliance with all grant requirements. 8. A criminal history background check is required to determine employment eligibility in the United States. 9. Must meet N.J. residency requirements as per " New Jersey First Act" N.J.S.A. 52:14-7. Appointment: Appointment is at the discretion of the Board of Education. Salary Range: Compensation will be determined through negotiation with the Superintendent.
