Per Scholas preferred hires reside within the following states : AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MD, MA, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX, WA Department: Instructor Development & Quality Assurance (IDQA) Position: Director, Critical Infrastructure Instructor Development Reports to: Sr. Director, Instructor Academy Location: National, with occasional travel to on-premises training locations SUMMARY The Director, Critical Infrastructure Instructor Developmen t serves as a department lead within the Instructor Development & Quality Assurance (IDQA) team and is responsible for overseeing the training, development, readiness, and quality assurance of instructional staff supporting Per Scholas’s Critical Infrastructure programs. This role serves as the organization's primary subject matter leader for instructor development within hands-on, lab-based technical training environments. The Director is responsible for building scalable instructor development systems, technical readiness standards, hands-on training programs, and quality assurance processes that ensure instructional excellence across Critical Infrastructure offerings while helping establish the foundation for future technical pathway expansion. The Director directly manages a Manager of Instructional Development & Delivery and drives improvements in instructor performance through data-informed strategies, targeted interventions, classroom observations, technical skills validation, and professional development initiatives. This individual serves as the bridge between curriculum design, instructional delivery, workforce expectations, and operational execution to ensure instructors are prepared to deliver high-quality, industry-aligned technical training. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Team Management Lead and develop the Critical Infrastructure Instructor Development function, establishing standards, priorities, and processes that support instructional excellence. Directly manage and mentor a Manager of Instructional Development & Delivery, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Serve as the primary instructional development leader responsible for building instructor capability across current and future Critical Infrastructure pathways. Instructor Development and Readiness Design and oversee instructor onboarding, training, certification, and professional development programs that prepare instructional staff for success in hands-on technical learning environments. Establish and maintain instructor competency standards, readiness assessments, and Train-the-Trainer programs to ensure consistent instructional quality. Assess and validate instructor technical and instructional readiness through observations, skills evaluations, coaching, and targeted development plans.
