Join the California State University (CSU) and explore career opportunities that advance student success and strengthen California’s future—offering competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and professional growth. * * * ### Job Summary Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President, Beach Building Services, the Director, Capital Planning and Sustainability provides executive leadership for the university's capital planning, campus development strategy, capital prioritization, space planning and utilization, sustainability, master planning, and associated Environmental Impact Report (EIR) functions. The Director leads the development of planning strategies, standards, and priorities that support the university's academic mission, operational objectives, stewardship of university assets, university wide sustainability commitments and initiatives, and long term physical development goals. The position directs the evaluation, planning, and prioritization of capital projects/investments; oversees campus space planning, allocation, and utilization; maintains stewardship of the Campus Physical Master Plan, Environmental Impact Report (EIR), and related planning frameworks; provides leadership for the university's sustainability program and advancement of institutional sustainability goals; and serves as a principal advisor to university leadership on capital planning, campus development, sustainability, space utilization, and strategic investment in the university's physical environment. The Director serves as the primary liaison to colleges, divisions, departments, and external stakeholders regarding campus planning priorities, space needs, sustainability objectives, and future development opportunities, promoting a coordinated, sustainable, and strategically aligned approach to campus development and stewardship of university assets. * * * ### Key Responsibilities - Capital Planning, Prioritization, and Campus Development Strategy Develop and lead the university's capital planning and campus development strategy. Direct evaluation, planning, prioritization, and advancement of capital investments, capital renewal projects, deferred maintenance initiatives, modernization efforts, and strategic development opportunities. Coordinate development of capital priorities and supporting documentation for Chancellor's Office funding programs, including the Five Year Capital Improvement Program, Annual Capital Priorities process, Total Return Portfolio initiatives, and other funding opportunities. Develop planning frameworks and recommendations that align institutional priorities, operational needs, sustainability objectives, risk mitigation, and stewardship of university assets. - Master Planning, Environmental Review, and Campus Planning.
