## Description **GENERAL SUMMARY:** Under the administrative supervision of the Community Participation Support Manager, the position is responsible for the social/vocational development of individuals enrolled in the Community Participation Supports Program of the Vocational Training Facility. Instructs, supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in assembling parts or assemblies into units in support of workshop contracts. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the individuals served. Type of supervision exercised: Full. Jobs reporting to this position: Ten production employees **EDUCATION:** High school graduate or equivalent required. **WORK EXPERIENCE:** One year’s experience working with individuals who are mentally/physically disabled is required. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required. **SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:** Good verbal and written skills and interpersonal skills required for effective communication with employees, trainees, and management. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** Medium Work: Duties require exerting 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (approximately 10-33% of shift), and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (approximately 33-66% of shift), and/or greater than negligible amount up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Good visual acuity for quality control inspection of product. Must be able to transport self throughout facility. Individual must be able to meet specific physical requirements (i.e. packing items, reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, walking, stacking, and wrapping skids -- lifting various weights) which are presently established and which are revised periodically. **ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS:** Exposure to production process of a sheltered workshop as well as exposure to body substances and communicable diseases. Position also requires individual crisis intervention techniques (i.e. individual restraint, redirection, etc.) as described in job duties. Exposure to Community Environment. **WORKING CONDITIONS:** Work is performed within a production setting of a sheltered workshop with exposure to noise, equipment, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc. Community participation is performed within a community setting with increase exposure to meaningful experiences with non-handicapped individuals.
