Consultant Histopathologist – Digital Reporting Dermatopathology | Gastrointestinal | Gynaecological Pathology Fully Digital | Home-Based Reporting | NHS Clients Across the UK | Flexible Sessions Available We are working in partnership with several NHS organisations across the UK to recruit experienced Consultant Histopathologists for fully digital reporting opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for consultants seeking greater flexibility while continuing to deliver high-quality NHS diagnostic services from home using validated digital pathology platforms. The successful candidate will join a growing network of consultant histopathologists providing specialist reporting across multiple NHS trusts. The majority of the workload will consist of Gynaecological Histopathology , supported by a balanced caseload of Dermatopathology and Gastrointestinal (GI) specimens. Whether you're looking to supplement your current NHS role, transition towards flexible working, or undertake additional reporting sessions, this position offers genuine autonomy alongside a consistent and varied workload. The Opportunity Working from your own home reporting environment, you will provide consultant-level diagnostic reporting using fully validated digital pathology systems. Cases are allocated electronically, allowing you to work flexibly while maintaining close communication with multidisciplinary teams and laboratory services where required. The service supports several NHS trusts and provides a steady flow of routine and specialist surgical pathology cases. Primary reporting responsibilities include: Gynaecological Histopathology Gastrointestinal Histopathology Dermatopathology General Histopathology where appropriate Participation in quality assurance and peer review activities Key Responsibilities The successful consultant will be expected to: Independently report digital histopathology cases to consultant standard. Deliver timely, accurate diagnostic reporting across multiple NHS organisations. Report predominantly gynaecological specimens with additional Gastrointestinal and Dermatopathology cases. Participate in internal quality assurance and discrepancy review processes. Liaise with laboratory teams where clarification or additional investigations are required. Maintain compliance with Royal College of Pathologists guidance and local NHS reporting standards. Support service resilience through flexible sessional working. Digital Reporting Environment Reporting is undertaken using fully validated NHS digital pathology platforms, allowing consultants to work securely from home while accessing cases from multiple NHS laboratories. Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent. GMC Specialist Registration in Histopathology (or eligibility for specialist registration). Significant consultant-level experience in Histopathology. Demonstrable experience reporting: Gynaecological Histopathology Gastrointestinal Histopathology Dermatopathology Experience using digital pathology reporting systems or willingness to undertake platform-specific training. Excellent written communication and diagnostic reporting skills. Desirable Experience working across multiple NHS organisations. Participation in External Quality Assurance (EQA) schemes. Previous experience of digital pathology reporting. Additional subspecialty expertise. Experience supporting Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
