GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS** The Registered Dietitian must fully meet the pertinent qualifications specified by governmental or professional agency regulations. The Dietitian must be registered with the American Dietetic Association and have at least three to five years of experience relating to long term care dietetics. **II. REGISTRATION AND DUTIES** The Dietitian must be at all times qualified, professionally competent and registered with the ADA. The consultant must have thorough knowledge of diet therapy, menu planning, and food production, while possessing the ability to perform all operations pertaining to dietary functions in addition to performing administrative and clinical duties. The Dietitian shall: Ø Recommend to Food Service Director methods to improve nutritional services through clinical intervention; Ø Work directly with the Food Service Director to assure appropriateness of clinical charting and assessment. Ø Provide professional guidance and consultation to the dietary and nursing departments to assure facility is appropriately addressing clinical nutrition and hydration issues in order to minimize any potential nutritional risks to patient clientele. Ø Provide the Administrator with a monthly written summary of appraisals and recommendations as necessary. St. Mary’s Villa Nursing Home Inc. shall: Ø Provide adequate personnel support to implement appropriate proposals and recommendations of the Consultant Dietitian. Ø Permit the Consultant Dietitian to exercise professional judgment concerning the type and manner of nutritional services and the monitoring/observation of facility food service performance.
