The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to residents or patients in a healthcare or long-term care facility. The Dietary Aide plays an essential role in promoting health and well-being through nutritious meals. ### **Key Responsibilities:** - **Meal Preparation and Service:** - Assist in preparing and serving meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines, including special diets such as diabetic, low-sodium, or gluten-free. - Ensure that food is served in an attractive and timely manner, following portion control and resident preferences. - Prepare food trays, deliver meals to residents or patients, and assist with food delivery to common areas or individual rooms as needed. - **Dietary Compliance:** - Follow dietary instructions for residents or patients with specific medical needs, ensuring that meals meet their nutritional requirements. - Ensure proper portion sizes and follow meal plans to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences. - **Sanitation and Safety:** - Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, cleaning tables, and sanitizing equipment. - Follow all food safety regulations and facility policies to ensure a clean and safe environment for food preparation and service. - Ensure that kitchen and dining areas meet local, state, and federal food safety regulations. - **Inventory and Supplies:** - Assist in maintaining and restocking food supplies, condiments, and utensils as needed. - Monitor inventory levels and notify the dietary supervisor when supplies need to be ordered. - **Resident and Patient Interaction:** - Provide excellent customer service to residents, patients, and families, responding to questions and special requests promptly and courteously. - Help residents and patients with meal-related needs, such as serving beverages, providing additional utensils, or addressing dietary concerns. - **Team Collaboration:** - Work closely with cooks, dietary supervisors, and other kitchen staff to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of meal service. - Assist with kitchen duties, including food preparation and setup for meals. - **Education:** High school diploma or equivalent preferred. - **Experience:** Previous experience in food service or a healthcare environment is preferred but not required.
