Candidates who hold a Master Technician Certification (Volvo or Mack) or possess a valid CDL certification may be eligible for a higher starting compensation rate based on their qualifications. Union Position: This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is part of a union shop. IAM Local 778 Hours of Work: This position is currently a day shift assignment. As a union-represented position covered under a collective bargaining agreement, shift assignments are determined through the union bid process. What You�ll Do As a Diesel Technician, you�ll maintain and repair medium- and heavy-duty trucks to keep our customers on the road. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues Performing preventative maintenance and inspections Completing repairs ranging from minor fixes to major overhauls Disassembling and reassembling components accurately and efficiently Documenting work with clear, detailed service notes Utilize computer-based diagnostic systems, manufacturer software, and electronic tools to troubleshoot, diagnose, document, and repair diesel-powered equipment. Performing other duties as assigned What We�re Looking For Hands-on experience working on diesel engines or commercial trucks Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality Ability to work independently and as part of a team High School Diploma and/or GED Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver�s License (CDL), Class A or B, within six (6) months of employment, as required for the position. Nextran has processes and resources available to support employees in obtaining their CDL.
