Chatham County Probate Court is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused professional to join our team as a Deputy Court Clerk II. This position offers the opportunity to serve the public while performing a variety of court-related clerical duties, processing legal documents, assisting court operations, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. If you have strong organizational skills, enjoy working with the public, and are committed to accuracy and professionalism, we encourage you to apply. - Perform routine clerical work relating to the operation of courts. - Safeguard evidence and attend court. - Process case files, applications, licenses, and other legal documents in accordance with related laws and guidelines, including warrants, garnishments, interrogatories, criminal files, civil files, pistol permits, marriage licenses, automobile abandonments, criminal sentence orders, adult guardianships, estate proceedings, and other related legal documents. - Use your communication and customer service skills as you assist the public by phone and in person. - Must be able to perform work in stressful situations. - May be required to work on weekends and after hours. - Perform other duties as assigned. - High School Diploma or GED, and - At least one (1) year of experience as a Deputy Court Clerk I, other court-related position, or general clerical work; or - Any equivalent combination of training and experience. - Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute. Selected candidates will be required to complete keyboarding and clerical testing during the interview process.
