**Under supervision of the Executive Affairs Director, this position acts as the main Intelligence Officer and strategic law enforcement liaison for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS). Promoting statewide public safety through information sharing and interagency collaboration with local, state, federal, regional, and national law enforcement partners to strengthen partnerships, improve information sharing, and support decision-making.** ****Serves as the SCDPS Intelligence Officer and disseminates and ensures SCDPS law enforcement officers are properly apprised of all Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issues threats and/or intelligence bulletins. Communicates and forwards all terrorist related leads from SCDPS to FBI / South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for review and proper handling. Serves as the point of contact between law enforcement agencies and the SCDPS for all terrorism issues. Provides motor vehicle/license intelligence information as requested by appropriate authorities or when directed by supervisors. Assists the SCDPS Director's Office with issues involving Homeland Security. Serves as the Director’s representative on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Executive Committee. Serves as the primary law enforcement liaison between the SCDPS Director and the South Carolina Sheriffs' Association and South Carolina Police Chiefs Association. Proactively works to foster and maintain collaborative relationships. Facilitates effective communication and information sharing on matters affecting public safety, law enforcement operations, and statewide policy. Represents SCDPS at meetings to maintain a consistent presence. Keeps the SCDPS Director abreast of joint initiatives, emerging law enforcement issues, and statewide public safety priorities. Assists in responding to inquiries from the general public. Resolves complaints or issues regarding the agency's activities. Fields inquires and requests from constituents and coordinates with the appropriate division for a response and solution. Performs law enforcement functions as needed for civil defense, emergency preparedness and public protection. When requested by agency leadership, participates in planning sessions involving public safety initiatives, homeland security, and critical incident coordination. Executes emergency operations in accordance with agency emergency operations plans. Maintains awareness of public safety challenges and innovations affecting law enforcement agencies and advise agency leadership regarding potential impacts. Prepares reports, briefing materials, presentations, and policy recommendations for leadership. Performs other duties as assigned. **State Minimum Requirements:** A bachelor's degree and experience supervising law enforcement personnel at a public law enforcement agency. **Agency Minimum Requirements:** A bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years as a certified Class 1 law enforcement officer with experience supervising law enforcement personnel at a public law enforcement agency. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
