Supports execution of merchandising plan for Deli/Food Service departments Albertsons-Safeway's Northern California Division has an opening for a Deli/Food Service Operations and Merchandising Support Specialist. The Deli/Food Service Operations and Merchandising Support Specialist monitors, enforces, and supports execution of the division merchandising plan for Deli/Food Service department in assigned stores. **Responsibilities** Operational Support - Assist with case resets and installations. - Support re-grand openings, remodels, and new store openings. - Provide guidance on inventory management, shrink reduction, and best practices. Merchandising & Marketing Support - Assist with developing schematics, schematics execution and merchandising resets - Support marketing initiatives including photography, resets, promotional setup, and other needs from the marketing team. - Deliver ad-hoc support for marketing projects Training & Development - Provide training on store-level systems such as BI, Retail Cockpit, and reporting tools (Afresh, Vision pro, Hero etc.) - Assist with training on P&L lines, financial metrics, and how to interpret results to drive business decisions. - Coach and support store teams to ensure consistent execution of standards. - Assist, train and coach new operation specialists to ensure effective role readiness Communication & Collaboration - Serve as a key liaison between store teams, operations, and marketing. - Ensure clear, professional, and timely communication across departments. - Maintain strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively support division-level initiatives and store-level execution. **Qualifications** Education Level: Bachelor's degree in business or related field and/or previous experience in merchandising of assigned product area and retail sales experience preferred. Skills and Experiences - Must possess previous Department Manager and Store Director experience - Possess good written and verbal communication skills and deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the phone - Possess a marketing orientation, good analytical and problem-solving abilities - Possess math skills to complete straightforward analysis - Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate others without directly supervising - Provide work guidance to store associates in areas such as product knowledge, sales and marketing techniques, understanding of profit and loss and compliance with company policies - Trains department managers on the basics of the business and managing their department - Provides input to Store Director on Store Department Manager evaluation Travel Requirements: Position may require some travel (up to 75%), including occasional weekend travel Physical Environment - Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment - Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal - Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday - Store visits involve regular standing, walking, climbing stairs and movement in and around machinery and hazardous equipment, as well as backstage receiving and production areas - Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties This role requires an individual who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and respond effectively to business needs while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.
