# Default Prevention Specialist ## Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Default Prevention Specialist to support current and former students with delinquent student account balances. In this role, you will proactively communicate with students and graduates by phone, email, and text message to provide guidance, discuss repayment options, and help them remain in good financial standing. The ideal candidate is customer-service focused, organized, and comfortable having sensitive financial conversations while maintaining professionalism and empathy. ## Responsibilities - Contact students and graduates regarding delinquent account balances through phone calls, emails, and text messages. - Educate students on repayment options and available resources. - Maintain accurate records of all communications and account activity. - Follow up consistently to encourage account resolution and prevent default. - Respond to inquiries regarding account balances and payment arrangements. - Work collaboratively with campus and corporate departments to resolve account issues. - Maintain confidentiality of student and financial information. - Meet established outreach and follow-up goals. - Perform other related duties as assigned. ## Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred. - Previous experience in collections, customer service, student services, financial aid, or account management preferred. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Comfortable communicating by phone and handling difficult conversations professionally. - Excellent organizational and time-management skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems. - Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism. ## What We're Looking For - Strong customer service mindset - Excellent communication and listening skills - Empathy and professionalism - Attention to detail - Dependability and accountability *This is a full-time and fully remote position.
