This is a remote position. **Overview :** **Database Performance Tuning Expert (PostgreSQL / Aurora PostgreSQL) – OffshoreExperience**10+ years in PostgreSQL Administration and Performance Tuning **Role Overview**Seeking a senior PostgreSQL Performance Tuning Expert with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL optimization, query tuning, partitioning, execution plan analysis, stored procedure tuning, statistics management, and large-scale database performance engineering. The candidate should independently troubleshoot complex database bottlenecks and improve scalability, throughput, concurrency, and platform stability. **Key Responsibilities** - Perform advanced PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL tuning. - Optimize SQL, execution plans, indexes, partitioning, and storage layouts. - Tune memory, WAL, checkpoints, autovacuum, planner, caching, and parallel query parameters. - Troubleshoot slow SQL, deadlocks, blocking, WAL contention, CPU/I/O bottlenecks, and replication issues. - Optimize PL/pgSQL Stored Procedures, Functions, and batch workloads. - Improve statistics collection, planner behavior, partition pruning, and query performance. - Manage vacuum, bloat remediation, indexing, replication, and database maintenance activities. - Conduct workload analysis, capacity planning, root-cause analysis, and performance benchmarking. - Collaborate with Engineering and Infrastructure teams on enterprise performance improvements. ### Requirements **Mandatory SkillsPostgreSQL / Aurora PostgreSQL** - Expert knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, MVCC, WAL, optimizer, locking, and replication. - Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL 12+ and Aurora PostgreSQL. **Performance Tuning**Expertise in: - shared\_buffers - work\_mem - maintenance\_work\_mem - effective\_cache\_size - wal\_buffers - checkpoint/autovacuum tuning - planner and parallel query optimization **SQL & Database Optimization** - Expert SQL tuning and EXPLAIN ANALYZE interpretation. - Strong PL/pgSQL and stored procedure optimization skills. - Expertise in joins, CTEs, window functions, indexing, and large-volume workloads. **Partitioning & Maintenance** - Deep expertise in PostgreSQL partitioning and partition pruning. - Experience with VACUUM, ANALYZE, REINDEX, WAL optimization, and bloat remediation. - Ability to handle multi-billion-row datasets. **Preferred Experience** - AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL - Kubernetes/containerized PostgreSQL - Linux performance tuning - PgBouncer, HA architectures, and logical replication - Monitoring tools such as pg\_stat\_statements, Prometheus, Grafana, and pgBadger - Data Warehousing and large analytical platforms **Soft Skills** - Strong troubleshooting and analytical capability - Excellent communication and stakeholder management - Ability to work independently in offshore delivery models - Strong documentation and mentoring skills ### Benefits Diversity Inclusion: Exavalu also promotes flexibility, adapting to the needs of employees, customers, and the business.
