About the Data Acquisition Manager role

Data Acquisition Manager positions focus on delivering results in their domain. This page aggregates open Data Acquisition Manager roles and what employers typically expect.

## About Filmore Filmore is a market intelligence platform for construction equipment dealers. We turn public data (UCC lien filings, building permits, business formations, contractor licenses) into revenue signals and deliver them straight to dealer sales reps in the tools they already use. We're a venture-backed pre-seed company founded by two operators who helped build Levelset to a $500M acquisition by Procore. We're small, we move fast, and the data you acquire in this role is the foundation the entire product sits on. ## The role Every state in the country files UCC lien records. When a contractor finances an excavator, that filing is public. The problem is that all 50 states handle this data differently. Some sell it in bulk. Some make you request it. Some have a portal from 2003 and a phone number that rings to one person's desk. Nobody has mapped it all, and that's your first job. You will go state by state and figure out how we get this data everywhere. That means researching each Secretary of State's rules, calling and emailing UCC departments, getting pricing, negotiating terms, and managing the purchase. Then it means owning the ongoing collection: making sure the data keeps flowing, on schedule, into our pipeline. You'll do the same for building permit and project data as we expand coverage. This is a project management job wearing a research hat. You'll be running 50 parallel workstreams, each with its own bureaucracy, timeline, and quirks. The person who wins in this role is organized, persistent, and comfortable picking up the phone to talk to a state records office in the morning and cleaning a messy CSV in the afternoon. You'll work directly with both founders: Martin (CEO) on acquisition strategy, vendor relationships, and negotiation, and Josh (CPO) on getting acquired data into our pipelines. ## What you'll do - Build and maintain the master map of UCC data availability across all 50 states: what's available, in what format, at what cost, on what terms - Contact state UCC and Secretary of State offices to get pricing, negotiate access, and complete purchases - Manage ongoing data deliveries from every state we buy from, and chase down anything that's late, incomplete, or wrong - Receive, organize, and prep incoming data files so they're ready for our pipeline - Extend the same playbook to building permit data, project data, and other public sources - Keep everything documented so any teammate can see the status of any state at any time ## What we're looking for - Strong project management and coordination skills. You've run multi-threaded projects with lots of external parties and nothing fell through the cracks. - AI fluency. You use Claude or other LLMs daily to research, draft, organize, and automate your own work. This is a requirement, not a bonus. - Proficiency with Google Suite, especially Sheets. You're comfortable living in spreadsheets. - Persistence with bureaucracies. Government offices don't answer the first email. You follow up until you get an answer. - Available during US business hours. Location is flexible. ## Nice to have - Experience working with public records or government data (UCC filings, permits, court records, SOS data) - Light SQL or scraping experience - Experience buying data or managing data vendors ## What this role is not This is not an engineering job. Your job is to get the data to the door and make sure it keeps showing up. ## Compensation Full-time role. Compensation discussed in conversation, based on experience and location. ## How to apply Email martin@filmore.ai with a short answer to this question: does state of Ohio sells UCC filing data in bulk? What would your first three steps be to get it? Show us how you'd actually work, including how you'd use AI tools to do it.
