In these efforts, we prepare our students as future leaders to model our credo, “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve.” Position Summary This is a 20% FTE (or 1/5th) position, teaching a ninth-grade dance class introducing students to the fundamentals of contemporary dance and ballet techniques, to various genres of dance and their cultural contexts, and to how the body moves in space. This class meets twice a week, from 8:00 to 9:15am. This role may be combined with other duties at the school to become a benefit-eligible at 60% FTE (3/5ths) or more. Responsibilities and Duties - Model Lasallian/Vincentian charisms; - Support SHC’s mission, philosophy and [integral student outcomes](https://www.shcp.edu/about-shc/expected-schoolwide-learning-results); - In collaboration with Visual and Performing Arts colleagues, and per department goals (see https://www.shcp.edu/academics/category/visual-performing-arts) - Design and implement lessons to facilitate physical expression, embodied creativity, and essential skills and understandings to develop as a dancer; - Provide regular and varied formative and summative assessments to demonstrate achievement and to facilitate students’ ability to understand their progress toward learning targets; - Maintain an interactive and timely learning environment, in both physical and virtual learning spaces; - Communicate consistently with students, parents, and school personnel; - Keep current and complete electronic grading and attendance records; - Support the school’s Advisory program and cocurricular activities; - Engage in professional learning as an essential part of being a reflective practitioner and as part of the school’s ongoing commitment to excellence; - Actively participate in SHC’s strategic initiatives to strengthen meaningful diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practices, especially strategies to support equitable learning, culturally responsive teaching, social emotional learning, and universal design for learning (as stipulated by the DEIB strategic plan adopted by SHC Board of Regents in 2021); - Engage in the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers and Department of Catholic Schools through their formational programs.
