**Location: The Salvation Army Red Shield Shelter- 604 Park Ave. Aiken, SC 29801** **Permanent Hours: Monday – Thursday 9:00 am- 3:30 pm & Friday 9:00 am-2:30 pm** We operate as an emergency shelter; our services are provided continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a result, the shelter does not close for holidays, and staffing is required to maintain uninterrupted services. **Pay type- Part-time (29 hrs./week) Pay amount $10.00 (bi-weekly)** **About this opportunity: Custodian** Provides custodial and general maintenance services to ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe, functional, and well-maintained. **Key Responsibilities – Custodian** - Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures; replenish paper products and supplies as needed. - Perform routine cleaning duties throughout the facility to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment. - Monitor, repair, and replace light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, spotlights, exit lights, and address other minor lighting issues. - Assemble, move, and arrange office furniture such as desks, chairs, tables, and bulletin boards. - Perform minor repairs and general maintenance of buildings and grounds as assigned. - Safely use, maintain, and store cleaning supplies, maintenance tools, and equipment. - Work indoors and outdoors, with exposure to dirt, dust, odors, and varying temperatures. - Perform physically demanding tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting; occasional sitting may be required. - Exert the physical energy necessary to complete janitorial and maintenance responsibilities efficiently. - Perform other duties as assigned. **Employee Benefits: Some of the benefits are:** - Paid Time Off (PTO) - Life Insurance - Retirement Plans and More! **What we are looking for in you:** - High school diploma or G.E.D. and six months of experience performing general janitorial and general maintenance duties. **(Maintenance experience preferred but not required)** - Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. ***Working Conditions:*** Duties are performed standing and require squatting, climbing, bending, and walking. Any of the preceding duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. An extensive amount of physical effort is required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to dirt, dust, disagreeable sights and/or odors, and various temperatures.
