**Department Contact:** Brooke Yaksich, psl\_hrs@psl.nmsu.edu **Internal or External Search:** External - Open to all applicants **Advertising Summary:** Join the Facilities team as a Custodial Worker! ## **Position Details** **Position Title:** Custodial Worker **College/Division:** Physical Science Laboratory **Department:** 470589-FACILITIES MANAGEMENT **Location:** Las Cruces **Offsite Location (if applicable):** **Target Hourly/Salary Rate:** $16.83 **Appointment Full-time Equivalency:** 1.00 **FLSA Status**: Non-Exempt **Bargaining Unit Announcement:** This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME). **Contingent Upon Funding:** Contingent upon external funding **Standard Work Schedule:** Standard (M-F, 8-5) **If Not a Standard Work Schedule:** **Job Duties and Responsibilities:** Maintains buildings and property in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Performs routine cleaning duties to ensure a sanitary environment. Follows established procedures for the safe and proper use of chemical cleaners and powered cleaning equipment to prevent damage to floors, fixtures, and furnishings. Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures, and performs general housekeeping tasks, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, dusting, and washing windows. ## **Qualifications** **Required Education and Experience:**High School diploma or higher degree. **Equivalent Qualifications:** **Preferred Qualifications:** **Special Certification/Licensure:**Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position is subject to random drug testing in compliance with its drug-free workplace requirements. ## **Working Conditions and Physical Effort** **Environment:** Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. **Physical Effort:** Moderate physical activity. **Lifting Requirements:** Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. **Risk:** Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
