Champaign Park District – Part-Time 2, Non-Exempt (not to exceed 19 hours per week) * * * **About the Job:** If you love working with kids and teens and want to make a meaningful impact after school each day, this role is right up your alley. As a CU Special Recreation Afterschool Program Leader, you’ll support youth with a wide range of abilities through hands-on activities, engaging curriculum, and a strong focus on safety and inclusion. You’ll help create a positive, structured environment where participants can learn, grow, and have fun at our Champaign and Urbana program sites. * * * **Summary of Responsibilities** - Lead fun, inclusive activities—crafts, games, outdoor play, cooking—aligned with seasonal curriculum. - Support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of all participants. - Enforce program expectations and maintain a safe, positive environment. - Supervise participants during transitions, free play, field trips, and higher-risk activities, including water-based components. - Provide first aid within training scope and maintain first aid supplies. - Keep accurate attendance, documentation, incident reports, and communication logs. - Maintain organized, clean program spaces and manage supplies responsibly. - Communicate regularly with the Afterschool Program Director and Youth & Teen Program Coordinator regarding participant needs or concerns. - Attend meetings and complete required trainings. - Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and all Park District policies. - Other duties as assigned. * * * **Qualifications** - At least 18 years old (21 preferred for positions requiring participant driving). - Interest in working with youth and individuals with disabilities. - Availability during afterschool hours throughout the school year - Experience assisting with or leading structured youth programs, preferred. * * * **Why Work With Us?** You won’t just clock in and supervise, you’ll actively shape kids’ afternoons and help them build confidence, friendships, and independence.
