CT Technologist - Lourdes Women's and Children's Hospital (PRN)

The CT Tech 1 arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations. Produces CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Ensures patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols, and screens patients for safe administration of contrast media. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Initially, may require instruction and guidance to accomplish the job and should develop into performing work under general supervision. Radiologic principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes are demonstrated utilizing the most appropriate technique an/or position for optimal examinations, as demonstrated by exam results. 2. Policies and protocols are adhered to ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation, as demonstrated by exam results. 3. Radiography students are taught sound radiography principles as required by Organization as evidenced by documentation. 4. Patient/General Safety: This will have been satisfactorily performed when… 1. Effectively communicates with patient to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam results. 2. Procedures are explained to patients/families and technologist answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation, as evidenced by customer satisfaction. 3. Assistance is provided to the physician in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique, as evidenced by physician's satisfaction. 4. Clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams are identified and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome, as evidenced by exam results and patient satisfaction. 5. Patient safety is demonstrated in department by use of side rails, braking mechanisms and patient monitoring as evidenced by risk management reports. 6. The technologist reports, documents and corrects any adverse, unsafe or unusual conditions, as evidenced by the patient/employee incidence reports. 7. The understanding of IV's, heparin locks and central line usage as they pertain to Computed Tomography is demonstrated, as evidenced by observations by supervisor and peers. 3. An orderly, safe and clean state environment is maintained and rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and has required with supplies readily available for procedures at all times. 2. Imaging and other related equipment is operated according to manufacturer's specifications, and performs daily calibration and adjustments as required and evidenced by exam results. 3.
