Our Critical Care division offers opportunities to work in highly specialized areas, including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/step‑down), and our Chemotherapy department. Critical Care Nurse responsibilities include: -Advanced Assessment of a patient’s condition and planning and implementing patient care plans. -Providing advanced life support including ventilator support; Assisting physicians in performing procedures. - Observing and recording patient vital signs as well as intake and outputs every one (1) hour. - Ensuring that ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment function properly. - Administering continuous vasoactive and cardiac medications; Ordering diagnostic tests. -Collaborating with fellow members of the critical care team; Provide care using nursing standards and Hospital/ICU protocols for treatment. -Acting as patient advocates; Providing education and support to patient families. -Caring for both medical and surgical patients; Providing care to the immediate post-operative patient. -Responding to Rapid Responses and medical emergencies throughout the medical campus. -Being part of end of life conversations as well as collaborating with the Palliative Care and Hospice teams. -Providing CRRT therapy. Education and Experience 1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or 2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or 3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or 4. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time) as a Nurse I at Roswell Park. NOTE: 1. Incumbents will serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse II. 2.
