Crew Leader- Parks

Under the direction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor, the purpose of this position is to supervise, coordinate, and assist the activities of workers engaged in the maintenance and repair of parks, sports complexes, facilities, medians, rights-of-way, and high visibility tourist identified areas. This position is required to possess or acquire the training, knowledge, and experience to act as backup to the Park Maintenance Supervisor in their absence. 1. Supervising, assisting, and inspecting the work to be done by the crew by communicating with the park maintenance supervisor about the current schedule. 2. Monitoring safety practices 3. Maintaining effective working relationships with crew 4. Essential position requiring mandatory attendance in the event of a storm, disaster, or other circumstantial event 5. Hands on supervision and responsibility in the maintenance and repair of parks, sports complexes, facilities, medians, rights-of-way, and high visibility tourist identified areas (H.O.T. funds) 6. Basic knowledge of mowing equipment and irrigation systems, to include basic mechanical repairs, welding, electrical, and plumbing 7. Supervise and assist workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of playground equipment 8. Make recommendations on repairing of parks and other installations 9. Read and interpret plans and specifications relating to park construction projects 10. Determine material and equipment needs for job sites 11. Transport vehicles and equipment to job sites 12. Complete required documentation of daily activities and work schedules 13. Requisition of materials, supplies, and equipment 14. Maintain a safe work environment and demonstrate safe workplace behaviors, including wearing proper personal protective equipment, following safety rules and regulations 15. Maintain equipment and vehicles according to safety and departmental procedures, including preparation of vehicle inspections, repair requests, and safe operation 16. Assist in planning park improvement programs 17. Coordinate work projects with other City divisions High school or equivalent. Over 2 years of related experience
