The Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Crew Leader I in our Wastewater Division. This person will be responsible for leading a crew of maintenance workers, equipment operators, and other employees participating in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater system. The Crew leader I will also investigate and resolve complaints, and generate the necessary maintenance reports for efficiency planning. Essential functions include but are not limited to the following: - Working with the sanitary sewer system to include working with and locating sewer system components such as main lines, houselines, and cleanout boxes. - Utilize equipment to include rod machines, metal locators, hand rods, and cctv cameras and locators - Maintains time, equipment and materials used to prepare reports - Instructs crew on proper safety standards and work expectations - Transports crew to work sites - Climbs ladders and stairs; bends, pushes, pulls, stoops, and lifts up to 75 lbs.; stands for extended periods of time; confined space entry also required - Requires the ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle - Valid driver's license required Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational or technical processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency. Two years supervisory experience in a maintenance role highly preferred. Valid Driver's License required; CDL may be required **Work Hours**: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; standby duty rotation required **Work Location**: Combined Operations Center: 1316 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk **\*\*\*This position is designated as an 'Essential' position which means you may be required to work extended, rotating, after hours, nights, weekends, and/or holidays in response to emergencies or severe weather.\*\*\***
