Apply now to join an organization where you truly make a difference. **Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:** The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Custodial Crew Leader responsible for leading custodial staff and ensuring assigned facilities are maintained to established cleanliness and safety standards. This position provides daily direction to custodial crews, assigns work, monitors quality, and manages supplies.**Essential Duties:** - Leading and directing a crew of custodians in performing a variety of custodial cleaning assignments. - Assisting supervisors with the completion of annual performance evaluations for assigned employees. - Conducting weekly inspections of assigned facilities to ensure established cleanliness and quality standards are maintained; completing inspection reports documenting facility conditions. - Assigning and scheduling daily work activities to ensure fair, equitable, and efficient distribution of duties. - Coordinating leave requests with the Custodial Supervisor while ensuring appropriate staffing coverage is maintained. - Reviewing and completing weekly time records for assigned employees. - Ordering custodial supplies and ensuring materials are available when needed. - Monitoring supply usage and promoting efficient practices to reduce waste. - Providing initial in-facility training for new employees and staff newly assigned to facilities. - Identifying cleaning deficiencies through inspections and providing coaching and instruction on proper cleaning techniques and established procedures. - Assisting custodial staff with cleaning duties as needed. - Opening and securing City buildings prior to scheduled operating hours. - Maintaining current knowledge of approved custodial methods, procedures, and safety practices. - Setting up meeting rooms and event spaces to ensure facilities are properly prepared for scheduled activities. - Performing other related duties as assigned. Must have a current and valid driver’s license. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
