Boulder County Coroner's Office is seeking to hire up to **2** **Coroner's Office Unpaid Interns, Fall 2026 - Medicolegal Investigations**. Collegiate opportunities will be during the Spring, Summer and Fall terms. Collegiate interns will have to follow any expectations set by their school if they are completing the internship for credit. Non-collegiate opportunities will also be available on a case-by-case basis. Both collegiate and non-collegiate individuals must be able to commit to 12-20 hours per week, during the term. Our internship offers a rigorous experiential learning program designed to build knowledge and skills for persons interested in pursuing medicolegal death investigation, or a career in advocacy for vulnerable populations. **This internship is not a paid or benefited position. The internship dates are August 24, 2026 to December 8, 2026.** This position will work **12-20** hours per week, **Monday - Friday 7:00am – 8:00pm**, depending on scheduling needs. This position will work out of **5610 Flatiron Parkway,** Boulder, Colorado. **Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.** **Hiring Salary Range**: Unpaid Internship **Tentative Hiring Timeline:** - Phone Screening: July 31st - First Round Interviews: Week of August 3rd - Reference Check: Week of August 3rd 1. Medicolegal Interns will rotate through investigations, and pathology, and will focus on forensic investigations and postmortem examinations 2. Participants may be exposed to environmental & biological hazards during the internship 3. Interns complete a performance checklist, that includes a weekly prescription log, weekly medical terminology log, statute review along with self-paced reading resources 4. Each participant will be required to create and present a PowerPoint presentation on a chosen topic of interest near the end of the internship 5. Interns will observe investigators during scene responses 6. Interns will observe pathology staff complete autopsy procedures 7. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged.
