Controls Technician - Building Automation / HVAC Controls

We are hiring an experienced **Controls Technician** to support commercial, industrial, and municipal building automation and HVAC controls projects across the Gulf Coast region. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience installing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting HVAC control systems. The right candidate will be comfortable working in the field, reading control drawings, wiring low-voltage systems, supporting startup, and helping ensure building automation systems operate properly for owners, contractors, and engineering partners. ### Responsibilities - Install, troubleshoot, and commission building automation and HVAC control systems - Perform point-to-point checkout, controller setup, wiring verification, and system startup - Read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and project documentation - Support DDC controls, BAS integration, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, and related control devices - Diagnose communication, wiring, programming, equipment, and system-performance issues - Coordinate with project managers, programmers, engineers, contractors, and field teams - Assist with system testing, functional verification, and owner training as needed - Maintain accurate service notes, startup documentation, and project records - Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and internal team members - Follow company safety standards and jobsite requirements - Experience with HVAC controls, building automation, DDC controls, or low-voltage systems preferred - Ability to read control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation - Understanding of commercial HVAC equipment and control applications - Experience with BAS platforms, controllers, sensors, actuators, and field devices preferred - Strong troubleshooting skills for wiring, communication, controls, and system issues - Comfortable working in the field on active commercial, industrial, and municipal projects - Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a project team - Local to the Mobile, AL or Dothan, AL area, or able to reliably commute to project sites - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation - Competitive compensation based on experience - Opportunity to work on commercial, industrial, and municipal HVAC controls projects - Hands-on field role with exposure to building automation systems and controls integration - Continued technical training and career development - Collaborative team environment with project managers, programmers, designers, and controls specialists - Long-term growth opportunity within building automation and HVAC controls - Additional company-sponsored benefits may be available
