About Pacific Fusion Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy. We are rapidly designing and building a pulser-driven inertial fusion system to achieve net facility gain (more fusion energy output than stored energy input). In parallel, we are developing the key components required to build affordable fusion systems. Our plans are ambitious. We have raised over $900M so far from incredible investors, resourcing us to deliver on these plans. You can read more about us in this letter from our founders . Why This Role Matters As Controller, you will be responsible for all accounting and financial operations activities for Pacific Fusion. You will work to build and optimize processes and enable the engineers and scientists across the organization as they bring our demonstration system online. What You'll Do Execute a monthly close process including producing monthly financial statements Oversee all aspects of financial operations including accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable Produce quarterly financial reporting including plan to actuals and associated analysis Work across the finance team to update the corporate forecast each quarter Perform ad hoc analysis as requested to support various leadership initiatives Drive efficiency across financial operations processes Develop and support a team of six accounting personnel What You Bring At least four years of public accounting experience Experience owning the end to end month end close process for a hardware company Experience creating new operational processes and ensuring continued improvement of those processes over time Experience compiling financial details into cohesive and comprehensive executive summaries for consumption by various levels of leadership Bonus Points For Experience in a public company SOX environment Experience working in a startup Experience implementing finance-touching software tools Experience working in industries such as: fusion, energy, aerospace, automotive or manufacturing Experience working closely with PhD scientists and R&D technology organizations Pay Range: $200,000 — $275,000 USD Total Compensation & Benefits for Eligible Employees Industry-competitive salary Equity plan 6% employer 401k matching Generous paid time off (including sick leave, vacation, paid family leave) Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance Actual base salary offered will be determined by: experience, skills, and work location.
