Matthews, email: bob.matthews@myfirstfarmers.com | Role: To help direct the operations of the Accounting Department; prepare financial reports, including annual plan and operating budgets; ensure complete, accurate, and timely completion of financial and accounting records for the bank and prepare analysis of operations for management. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: E 50% Leads and manages accounting department including month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, oversight of general ledger accounting and accounts payable and preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and reports. E 20% Assists and supports CFO with budgeting and forecasting processes, develops and maintains financial systems and software, provides financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making, and other projects as requested and assigned. E 10% Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. E 10% Assists with auditor and regulatory requests and responses and oversees tax filings including liaison with external tax advisor. E 5% Supports and assists with shareholder services requests. N 5% Performs other job related duties as assigned. Performance Measurements: 1. To comply with the letter and with the spirit of the bank's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. 2. To ensure that the bank's books and general ledger accounts are always in balance and current. 3. To maintain a highly qualified staff, sufficient to meet daily accounting demands. 4. To keep management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department. 5. To provide friendly, professional and accurate service and support to all customers and employees. 6. To acquire and maintain a working knowledge of regulations and bank procedures; to comply with the provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and other laws and regulations. 7. To help develop the skills and knowledge of department/branch staff; to conduct performance reviews and foster the development of department/branch staff. 8. To maintain the confidentiality of customer and any other sensitive information. 9. To complete required training and undertake additional training as needed to increase job knowledge and maximize productivity. 10. To develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with department/branch staff. Knowledge and Skills: Experience Eight years to ten years similar or related experience. Education (1) A master's degree, or (2) a bachelor's degree plus professional certification (e.g. CPA). Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. Other Skills Education in accounting and finance. Functional with spreadsheets and word processing software. Physical Requirements The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or customers and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copier, and printer.
