Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found [here](https://apps01.civilservice.louisiana.gov/onestopjobinfo/DisplayJobSpec.aspx?JobCode=176520). **Job Duties:** The job duties for this position include but are not limited to the following: - Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with departmental policies, standards, specifications, and project plans. - Complete and process construction documentation such as field diaries, reports, and estimates. - Enter, review, and maintain construction project data in departmental systems (e.g., MATT, Site Manager, Content Manager). - Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures while working in the Project Engineer’s office and at construction sites. - Serve as the primary construction inspector in assigned areas of specialization or certification. - Determine material sampling requirements and verify materials, haul quantities, and survey elevations and alignments. - Complete required training and support efficient project operations, including assisting other staff as needed. **Position-Specific Details:** **Appointment Type:** Probational **Career Progression:** This job may be filled as a Construction Technician 1,2,3, or 4 Construction Inspector 1 - Starting salary is $1198.40/bi-weekly Construction Inspector 2 - Starting salary is $1372.00/bi-weekly Construction Inspector 3 - Starting salary is $1570.40/bi-weekly Construction Inspector 4 - Starting salary is $1797.60/bi-weekly **Compensation:** This position is eligible for premium pay for every hour worked: Construction Inspector 1-4 - $2.00/hour **Work Schedule:** Work hours are 7:45 am - 4:15 pm, Monday-Friday Louisiana is a State As a Model Employer (SAME) that supports the recruitment, hiring, and retention of individuals with disabilities. **How To Apply:** No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
