JOB OPENING FOR A **Community Wildfire Coordinator** AT THE ***Washington County Sheriff's Office*** ***Emergency Management Division*** FULL TIME / WITH BENEFITS $26.65 to $29.00 PER HOUR DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE Washington County is seeking a Community Wildfire Coordinator to lead wildfire mitigation, preparedness, and community planning efforts throughout the County's unincorporated areas. This position works closely with local fire districts, state and federal agencies, community leaders, and county departments to reduce wildfire risk and improve community resilience. **Key Responsibilities:** - Coordinate Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) - Manage wildfire mitigation projects and grant-funded programs - Lead community outreach, Firewise USA®, and preparedness education - Build partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies - Monitor wildfire conditions and support emergency management operations - Provide training, presentations, and technical guidance to communities and partner organizations **Minimum Qualifications:** - Associate's degree in emergency services, public administration, engineering, business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) - Three (3) years of experience in wildfire mitigation, emergency management, fire prevention, forestry, public safety, or a related field - Strong communication, project coordination, and public engagement skills **Preferred Qualifications:** - Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) - Firewise USA® programs - Wildfire mitigation planning - Grant management - Multi-agency emergency management initiatives **Certifications:** The selected candidate must be able to obtain the following within six months of hire: - NWCG or Utah State Fire and Rescue Academy Wildland Firefighter Certification - CPR/AED Certification - First Aid Certification - NIMS First Responder training is required A complete job description and application can be found on our website. **https://www.washco.utah.gov/forms/human-resources/jobs/** **All applications must be submitted** **online by July 26th, 2026** Washington County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
