**Community Health Emergency Medical Technician (ART)** **Alternative Response Teams (ART) - Provides low acuity medical and behavioral health response to calls within the Police dispatch system. This position will work with a Fire Department Crisis Navigator.** The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is hiring an emergency medical technician (EMT) to staff our Alternate Response Units. In this position, you will provide medical and administrative assistance to support CSFD's Mobile Integrated Health initiatives including 911 response. You will need to evaluate and triage individuals' medical needs, provide primary care and/or assist with advanced life support. Necessary job duties will include medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the physically and mentally ill or injured. As a medically trained team member you will be responsible for determining if an individual needs medical attention and if an ALS intervention is needed. Please note that this timeline is subject to change and the role may conclude earlier or be extended beyond this date. **Come explore the possibilities a career with the City of Colorado Springs can offer!** **Essential Job Functions** - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform: - Support the 911 system by responding to low acuity calls for service and providing appropriate resources and disposition of care - Conduct patient care education - Collaborate with your Crisis Navigator teammate to assist community members in need - Work alongside police/fire units and community agencies - Operate lightweight vehicles non-emergent in all weather conditions - Assist patients with community resources, referrals to care, and assistance with their immediate needs - Administer patient care consistent with department physician guidelines - Document appropriate patient care reports using the ESO system **We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:** **Knowledge of:** - Organizational objectives, procedures, policies, and regulations - Utilization of current technology to perform job duties - Patient care reporting and basic medical terminology **Ability to:** - Evaluate a situation and help problem-solve - Prioritize tasks and deadlines and apply critical thinking skills to address conflicting priorities - Demonstrate strong reasoning, interpersonal, language, and math skills - Read and interpret a variety of documents and instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form - Demonstrate effective leadership and customer service - Assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercise initiative, and judgment, and make decisions within the scope of assigned authority - Understand the multifaceted and interactive effects of personal and environmental factors that determine behaviors and identify leverage points for health and wellness promotion - Communicate and work effectively with others and maintain confidentiality - A high school diploma or GED - One year of full-time Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) experience - Possess, or obtain upon hire and maintain, a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges - Possess current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and State of Colorado or National Registry EMT-B certifications *Our organization views each year of further education as equivalent to each year of relevant work experience, and each year of additional relevant work…
