**OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:** St. Benedict's is looking for an individual who have a background and known knowledge in cross country. During our school year and as our sports programs are in session, we seek coaches who can assist with various teams of middle school students. These positions are only available for the sports seasons and are paid per the specific sport that is being coached. This position is not benefits eligible. This position starts August 12th and ends September 15th. Head Pep Squad Coach - Fall Below are the Assistant Cross Country Coach’s duties and responsibilities: - Practice - Mid August - End of October - 3 days a week (Monday-Wednesday) - 3:30-5:00 pm unless there is a meet - Number of Cross Country Meets - 6 minimum - 8 maximum - Attends all meets - Could be Monday-Saturday - Duties/Responsibilities - Supports facilitating warm-up, stretch, and cool down. - Assist with any equipment ordered. - Assist with facilitating parent meetings and communication when necessary. - Assist with taking attendance at each practice and or meets. - Ensure student safety in all aspects of the sport. - Report any behavior issues or problems that may arise at meets or practices to the lead Cross Country Coach. - Fill in for the lead coach if ever absent - Additional Trainings - First Aid and CPR - SafeSport - Background Check - Safeguarding - Concussion Safety - Qualifications - Experience working with children, preferred age groups between 10-13 years old - Previous experience as a player, assistant coach, or volunteer preferred - Positive attitude, strong communication, ability to teach fundamentals, and develop skills - Understanding of rules, safety, and sportsmanship - Ability to motivate and mentor middle school students - Able to run, walk, or ride a bike with the team. - Reliable transportation The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Any of these activities could be for prolonged periods of time. - Use of arms and hands to reach and in some sports work with equipment. - Ability to communicate both audibly and visually and ability to listen. - May occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
