Colville School District is seeking a Drama Advisor at Colville Junior High School for students in grades 6-8. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing an after-school drama program that provides students with opportunities to explore all aspects of theatrical production. This includes acting, stage management, set design and construction, costumes, props, lighting, sound, publicity, and performance preparation. The Drama Advisor will foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, responsibility, and personal growth while helping students develop confidence and communication skills through the performing arts. Please note that all extracurricular positions are for one year only. - Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all participants that nurtures self-confidence, creativity, teamwork, responsibility, and lifelong appreciation for the performing arts. - Plan, organize, and direct an after-school drama program for students in grades 6-8. - Develop and implement a production schedule, including auditions, rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances. - Provide instruction and guidance in acting techniques, stage presence, character development, and performance skills. - Teach and supervise students in all aspects of theatrical production, including set construction, props, costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, stage management, and publicity. - Develop rehearsal plans and ensure attendance is taken at the beginning of every rehearsal and production meeting. - Select age-appropriate plays, musicals, or theatrical productions in consultation with building administration. - Collaborate with school staff, families, and community volunteers to support successful productions. - Maintain open and consistent communication with students, parents, administration, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and performance details. - Ensure all rehearsals and performances are conducted in a safe, organized, and productive manner. - Serve as a positive role model by consistently demonstrating professionalism, integrity, respect, and good character. - Demonstrate unwavering ethical standards and conduct yourself in a manner that is principled and beyond reproach. - Be positive, enthusiastic, and patient while supporting the individual growth and development of students. - Supervise students before, during, and after rehearsals and performances until all participants have been safely picked up or have left campus. - Coordinate facility use, equipment needs, and performance schedules with building administration. - Assist in the preparation and management of production budgets, ticket sales, fundraising activities, and purchasing requests as assigned. - Ensure all students participating in the program meet district eligibility requirements. - Report all accidents or injuries within 24 hours to the Junior High School office. - Check out keys from the Junior High School Office and return all keys and district property within two weeks following the conclusion of the production season. - Represent Colville Junior High School and the Colville School District in a positive manner that reflects the best in student leadership and citizenship. - Other duties as assigned. **Physical Demands** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
