CMM Engineer

The CMM Engineer works under the direction of quality management with minimum supervision. Is responsible for CMM machine programming, training, and associated preventative/reactive maintenance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, validate, and optimize CMM programs to inspect complex geometries and ensure conformance to engineering specifications Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to refine measurement techniques, ensuring accurate and efficient processes Develop and implement CMM inspection plans, including the selection of appropriate measurement methods and technologies Utilize CAD models to create measurement plans and generate programs for various CMM systems Analyze measurement data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement, reporting findings to relevant stakeholders Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the quality management system Provide training and mentorship to junior team members on CMM programming and measurement techniques Document inspection processes and results, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal procedures. Completes other tasks assigned by management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field, and 5+ years of CMM programming experience or Associate’s degree in related field, and 10+ years of CMM programming experience preferred. Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles Proficiency in CMM software, Calypso, PC-DMIS, PowerInspect preferred Expertise in CMM programming and operation Familiarity with CNC programming and machine shop operations Must be able to read complex blueprints, technical drawings, bills of material, assembly instructions Ability to use measuring equipment - calipers, height gauges, micrometers etc. Ability to work hands on within the production environment Exceptional attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly Familiarity with Microsoft Office, CAD/CAM software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) Collaborative approach to problem-solving, fostering teamwork across departments Proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies
