# **Scheduled Hours** 40 # **Position Summary** Position supports the clinical support service by performing pre-analytic duties prior to laboratory testing. Duties include customer support, sample accessioning, patient registration, insurance verification, and sample procurement. This position is located in a clinical lab setting with no direct patient contact. Any patient interaction occurs via telephone or email. # **Job Description** **Primary Duties & Responsibilities:** - Provides customer support for clients, faculty and staff in a friendly and helpful manner while providing a positive, professional, courteous and empathetic understanding to all customers. - Exhibits high quality performance through accuracy, attention to detail and commitment in a timely manner. - Accepts and electronically receives laboratory specimens for all sections of the laboratory, including registering patients into medical record and laboratory information systems. - Oversees the procurement of materials from outside institutions in support of clinical testing performed by laboratories. - Prepares and sends materials to reference laboratories in support of clinical testing not provided internally. - Effectively troubleshoots errors and problems in order to ensure pre-analytic accuracy in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. - Demonstrates knowledge of insurance industry. Performs insurance verification for testing to ensure accurate and timely payment for services. Calls insurance companies for pre-certification when required. - Effectively prioritizes workload to ensure completion of duties within stated expectations. - Fulfills client requests as needed. - Assists with additional projects as needed. **Working Conditions:** Job Location/Working Conditions: - Normal office environment.
