This position serves as the front-line contact for the Child Support section of Public Health & Human Services along with providing caseload management assistance to the Child Support Officers. ***\*\*INTERESTED CANDIDATES MUST ALSO APPLY TO THE MINNESOTA MERIT SYSTEM\*\** *PLEASE SEE THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS ANNOUNCMENT.*** **Position Purpose and Distinguishing Characteristics** The Child Support Enforcement Aide is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to Child Support services. Primary responsibilities include acting as a front-line contact for the Child Support Office and completing subsequent case intake duties; assisting the Child Support Officers with on-going case management and other clerical duties as assigned. A majority of the Child Support Enforcement Aide duties are performed independently but in accordance to standard policies, procedures and/or protocols. The Child Support Enforcement Aide works closely with the Child Support Officers, income maintenance and social services staff, and others; and maintains all requisite relevant legal documentation. **Essential Duties Estimated % Time** | **Intake** Assist Child Support Officers in collecting personal and financial client information Process applications/referrals, public assistance mandates Explain application procedures to individuals and assist individuals in completing child support services forms Initiate interstate child support cases, including requesting out of state assistance Load existing court orders into record system | **30%** | | --- | --- | | **Case Management/Support** Assist Child Support Officers Initiate/follow-up on income withholding notices to employer Verify/ locate information received through PRISM Contact/follow-up on leads to locate parents Gather medical information including uninsured medical/dental expenses; verify insurance Assist in identifying and locating absent parents and their financial status via inquiries to other agencies, individuals, and employers and input data into PRISM Respond to client complaints Inform clients of their rights including their right of appeal Arrange interviews and appointments for genetic testing of alleged fathers, mothers and children. Responsible for Chain of Custody of samples to testing facility | **55%** | | **Clerical** Initiate outgoing correspondence Input client data into appropriate record system/perform clerical functions as assigned including composing correspondence and draft reports as needed Maintain PRISM records/reports, prepare closed files/records Assist with financial/accounting tasks and monitoring payment compliance- including making Cost of Living calculations, arrears adjustments, processing injured spouse claims processing on-site payments Research policy as requested (state, federal) Maintain file documentation, monitor data retention in compliance with Minnesota and federal law Maintain/order office supplies including DNA test kits | **15%** | **This description provides the general list of responsibilities and is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of this position and classification.
