## Overview Non-exempt position responsible for providing direct patient care support and administrative assistance to providers and clinical staff in a clinic setting. This role serves as a critical link between patients and providers, performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, administering medications and injections as directed, and assisting with minor procedures, while also supporting front-office functions. The CMA works under the supervision of a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, and/or physician assistant and must consistently demonstrate professionalism, accuracy, and compassion in patient interactions. To learn more about PPCP, visit www.PalmettoPrimaryCare.com - Offer 401K with generous company match - Medical, Dental, Vision Benefits - Short Term and Long Term Disability Offered **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** - Room patients, obtain and accurately document vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration) - Obtain and record patient medical history, chief complaint, and reason for visit - Prepare examination and treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of supplies - Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and minor in-office surgeries - Administer medications, injections, and immunizations per provider order and within scope of practice - Perform basic laboratory tests (e.g., urinalysis, glucose checks, rapid strep, EKGs) and specimen collection - Prepare and label specimens for outside laboratory testing - Document patient information accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR) - Schedule patient appointments, referrals, and diagnostic testing - Communicate with patients regarding test results, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions as directed by the provider - Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times - Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment - Monitor and maintain inventory of medical and clinical supplies - Respond to patient phone calls and portal messages regarding clinical questions, prescription refills, and appointment needs - Follow all infection control, safety, and OSHA guidelines - Participate in quarterly training sessions * * * **Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities** - Assist with training new medical assistants or clinical support staff - Assist with front-desk coverage during staff shortages (check-in/check-out, insurance verification) - Assist in ordering and organizing office and clinical supplies - Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or physician ## Requirements **Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)** **Knowledge** - Medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology - Clinical procedures and examination protocols - Pharmacology basics, including medication administration and dosage calculation - Infection control practices and OSHA/CLIA regulatory standards - HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements - Electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic office software **Skills** - Phlebotomy and specimen collection technique - Accurate vital sign measurement and clinical documentation - Proper administration of injections and immunizations - Strong verbal and written communication - Basic computer proficiency (EHR, scheduling systems, MS Office) - Time management and multitasking in a fast-paced clinical environment **Abilities** - Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, including in emergency situations - Ability to interact compassionately and respectfully with patients - Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely - Ability to maintain composure and confidentiality when handling sensitive information - Ability to stand, walk, and be physically active for exten…
