**Job Title:** Research Assistant**Department:** Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL)Supervisor: Heidi EcholsStarting Rate of Pay: $8.00/hourLength of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.Department Description: The Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) at High Point University advances evidence-based teaching practices and supports faculty in creating meaningful, innovative learning experiences. CITL serves as a campus hub for faculty development, curriculum design, and educational technology strategy. As a student employee, you will gain hands-on experience in academic research, higher education trends, and instructional best practices.Job Description:The Research Assistant supports CITL by researching, synthesizing, and organizing current best practices in higher education pedagogy and andragogy. The student will help translate scholarly literature and emerging trends into accessible resources that inform CITL's programming and faculty development initiatives.Job Location/ Hours Required:The candidate will perform most/all job duties independently with weekly check-ins on campus. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 5 hours per week.Responsibilities: - Conducts searches and synthesizes research on best practices in higher education pedagogy and andragogy using academic databases - Organizes and summarizes findings in clear, accessible formats such as annotated bibliographies, literature summaries, and one-pagers - Assists with the development of CITL resources, teaching guides, and faculty development materials informed by research - Tracks emerging trends in teaching and learning, including active learning, course design, student engagement, and inclusive pedagogy - Participates in CITL team meetings to share research updates and contribute to programming discussions - Completes other duties as assigned by the Director Required Qualifications:Applicants must be able to work independently, manage their time effectively, and communicate research findings clearly in both written and verbal formats. Applicants must demonstrate strong research and writing skills and a genuine interest in higher education, teaching, and learning.Desired Skills: - Minimum 2.5 overall GPA - Strong academic writing and research skills - Ability to synthesize and summarize scholarly literature - Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Prior coursework in education, psychology, communications, or a related field is a plus
