Not to exceed 89 days. **Duties:** Under the general supervision of the Student Development Coordinator of Kipuka Native Hawaiian Student Center, provides student engagement and peer mentorship support for UH Hilo second-year students in consultation with relevant units in the UH Hilo Division of Student Affairs. 1. Plan, coordinate, and manage the Makamakalehua Second-Year Experience peer mentorship program, including the use of student engagement technologies (e.g., Lehua chatbot or similar platforms), aligning activities with Kipuka and UH Hilo student success goals through the integration of Hawai'i values, olelo Hawai'i, place-based learning, and evidence-informed student success practices. 2. Implement a structured second-year mentorship framework that supports student engagement, academic direction, identity development and continued progress toward degree completion, including the incorporation of Hawai'i values, knowledge, and place-based approaches. 3. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate peer mentors supporting second-year student programming. 4. Coordinate and oversee peer-mentor-led workshops, events, and activities that promote second-year student success and foster connection to place, community, and campus through culturally grounded engagement opportunities, leadership development, and relationship-building. 5. Design and facilitate additional programming that integrates Hawai'i values, olelo Hawai'i and place-based approaches in collaboration with the Makamakalehua coordinator team to support major exploration, engagement with academic, cultural, and campus resources, including opportunities that connect students to community-based learning and place-based experiences. 6. Oversee and maintain data collection for student participants. 7. Work in multiple work settings and maintain a variable work schedule as required. 8. Other duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualifications:** 1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university and one (1) year of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education or community-based programs with responsibilities for developing and implementing educational, cultural, or community engagement initiatives that support students and/or local communities; or any equivalent combination of education and professional work experience that provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of UH Hilo academic programs, student support services, and campus resources. 3. Demonstrated working knowledge of educational programs, community resources, and organizations serving Hawai'i Island and the ability to connect students with appropriate opportunities and support services. 4. Demonstrated proficiency in the Hawaiian language. 5.
