GENERAL STATEMENT Under the supervision of the Campus Events Office Manager, the Receptionist serves as the primary contact with campus and public. They assist customers with publicity information, provide knowledge of locations and services within any ASI Facility (which includes: the University Student Union, Student Recreation and Wellness Center and other venues that the CEO oversees, maintain office files, prepare correspondence and reports, and provide general administrative support to staff within the Campus Events Office. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Answers and screens initial telephone requests for scheduling information. 1. Files and maintains USUCEO files. 1. Prepares, runs and distributes Daily Reports, paperwork needed by Building Management Staff. 1. Provides general information to the campus and off-campus community. 1. Assists walk-in clients. 1. Picks up, sorts and delivers mail to appropriate locations. 1. Informs Campus Events Office Manager when supplies are needed. 1. Assists clients in reserving minor reservations. 1. Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience Minimum or no previous experience required. Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units. Knowledge and Abilities Must be able to work with a variety of people and personalities. Must be patient, friendly and helpful and demonstrate good customer service skills. Must possess a general knowledge of the campus and be able to follow instructions given. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, etc.) OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Schedule This position is an annual, year-round position that works through the winter & summer academic breaks. Shifts are generally scheduled Monday–Thursday between 8 AM and 6 PM and Friday between 8-5 PM, with occasional evening and weekend hours required for event support. Scheduled hours may fluctuate based on departmental needs and event activity. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit a at a desk or computer workstation and use hands and fingers to key data, sort documents, and file paperwork. The employee is frequently required to stand and be able to talk or hear in interactions with others. The employee is occasionally required to walk to other offices within the building and around the campus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. **Note: This is a union position. Please contact Human Resources with questions.** Campus Events Office is looking for a student that is available between the hours of 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm, Monday - Thursday and/or 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Fridays. Candidate must be able to work 4 - 5 hour shifts. Anticipated scheduled hours is up to 12 hours per week.
