About the Business Development Manager role

Business Development Manager positions focus on delivering results in their domain. This page aggregates open Business Development Manager roles and what employers typically expect.

**Business Development Manager, In-Field Greater Los Angeles** A relationship-first, no-commission role. Spokesperson, not closer. Greater Los Angeles Area | Full-Time | Reports to Director of Sales and Marketing **A note from our founder** We used to run a traditional field sales model. The reps had to cold call, qualify, scope, price, write proposals, close, and update the CRM. It was too much for one person to do well. So we reworked it. Inside sales took over the deal work. Closing ratios improved. So did the proposals. Less time was wasted. What we lost was the face in front of the customer. We are putting it back, with one critical change: this role does none of the heavy lifting that overwhelmed our previous reps. No proposals. No bids. No contracts. No closing. You build relationships. You introduce iNX. You listen. **You bring the relationships. We bring everything else.** **What This Role Actually Is** This position is a spokesperson and relationship developer, not a closer. You walk into industry events, sit down with facility managers, meet with our existing clients to understand what matters to them and what we can do to help, and open doors. When a real opportunity emerges, the inside team takes the lead on scoping, pricing, and proposals. You stay close to the buyer as their guide. That is the whole job. Most companies have it wrong. When you fail to support a salesperson with the back-end work, you take them away from the one thing that makes them effective: building real relationships. We built this role around that understanding. **Stop competing. Start relating. We do not pay you to close. We pay you to listen.** **About The No-commission Question** I will answer it before you ask. Yes, straight salary. $150,000 base, no commission. We rolled the commission into your base because we trust the people we hire. Two reasons we built it this way. - Commission rewards closing. We do not want you closing. We want you listening. Pay shapes behavior, and I am not paying you to do something other than what the role requires. - The people who thrive here are not motivated by variable comp. They are motivated by being good at their craft. They want to know what they earn this year, and they do not want it changed in Q3 because someone in another office decided to move the goalposts. Strong performance gets permanent raises. Not bonuses. **Who We Are Looking For** You are exceptionally curious. You read widely. You walk into a manufacturing plant or a university facilities office, and you are genuinely interested in how the place runs, what truly motivates them, what it is they are not saying. You are confident in your own intellect, and you do not need a script. You are a poor fit if you love the sound of your own voice. We hire people who seek first to understand, in the literal sense. You are a strong fit if you are a confident communicator and presenter who leads every conversation with genuine curiosity rather than a pitch. The best relationship builders in this industry talk less than the people they are meeting with. **How We Work** We are a team. Here is what that means in practice. - Fully remote, domestic and international. Still one team. - PTO from day one. No accrual, no approval chains. - Financials shared internally. Ask any employee what we made last quarter. - Flexible hours. Adults manage their own time. - Team backs each other up across departments without being asked. - People over profits is the operating principle, not a poster on the wall. We are a family business in the literal sense. My daughter Allison is our CFO. My son Aaron is our COO. We carry our name in everything but the marquee. **The reverse reference** Before you accept an offer, verify everything in this ad with the people who live it. Call our current sales team and ask them whatever you want. We will give you their numbers. Not pre-coached references. Anyone you want to talk to.
