Role Summary The Building Support Aide assists teachers, students, and office personnel with a wide range of clerical, technical, and supervisory tasks. This multi-faceted role shares responsibilities across the Library/Media Center, the main administrative office, student common areas (cafeteria/playground), and specialized early childhood or secondary spaces. Reporting directly to the Building Principal, you will help maintain strict confidentiality, support student behavioral interventions, and ensure a safe, orderly environment campus-wide. Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Educationally Prepared: Sixty (60) or more college credit hours preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation for academic and student support environments. The Youth Ally: Previous experience and a natural sensitivity toward working with children, with a proven ability to implement student interventions and manage behaviors effectively. Versatile Office Skills: Strong typing, filing, photocopying, and general computer skills, with excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading capabilities. Library Affinity: Training or prior experience in library work is highly preferred (inventory, cataloging, and circulation desk operations). Library & Media Center Services Circulation & Inventory: Attend the circulation desk to check books in and out, shelve materials, process incoming media, and run annual inventory checks. Research & Literacy Support: Assist teachers and students in locating research materials; read stories to and work with small groups of students to foster a love of reading. Center Stewardship: Maintain the visual appeal of the Media Center, prepare engaging displays/bulletin boards, perform minor repairs on books/AV equipment, and generate overdue notices. 2. Main Office & Clerical Logistics Communications Frontline: Answer office phone lines, take messages, distribute U.S. and district mail, and disperse relevant information to the public with a professional demeanor. Attendance Coordination: Track student sign-ins, print tardy/admit slips, manage daily check-outs, and call parents proactively when a child's absence has not been reported.
