Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled non-journey craft maintenance repair activities and control functions in the physical plant. Performs building and ground maintenance. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives. Works closely with other professionals in a team approach. Learn more about MATC at [www.matc.edu](//www.matc.edu). - Inspects, repairs, and/or modifies laboratory, shop, or physical plant equipment. - Operates and maintains boilers, valves, pumps, and related equipment. - Adjusts and maintains control instruments of various types. - Operates power distribution panels. - Operates and maintains air handling systems, air conditioning systems, and related equipment, including fans, motors, controls, and pumps. - Operates and maintains sewerage disposal systems, including pumps, motors, and other related equipment. - Assists in the development and implementation of scheduled preventive maintenance programs. - Assists with report preparation, purchase requisitions, budget estimates, and other required documents. - Directs other building service employees in the performance of related duties. - Maintains and tends outside grounds to include mowing, watering, planting, mulching, trimming grass, flowers, bushes, and trees. - Repairs and maintains plumbing, piping, fixtures, vehicles and equipment including company vehicles; lawn and snow equipment. - Sets up and resets designated areas for special events and meetings. - Opens and secures building at designated times for school and special events as needed. - Maintains and repairs indoor/outdoor lighting. - Programs and schedules building control system that controls fire, lighting, and HVAC systems. - Participates in the implementation, practice, and reporting for safety drills such as fire, severe weather, and active shooter. - Assists manager’s evaluations of employees seeking promotion. - Replaces, repairs, installs lock cylinders and latching devices. - Adjusts and aligns doors and closers to operate properly. - Leads departmental meetings prepared by the manager. - Attends in-service training, workshops and other educational activities as required or assigned. - Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division. Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures. **Required Education & experience**: High school diploma or G.E.D. **and** Five (5) years of experience in building maintenance and repairs, including at least two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of air handling and related equipment. **Required License/Certification**: Valid Wisconsin driver’s license. **Competencies** include cultivating innovation, optimizing work processes, ensuring accountability, collaborating effectively, demonstrating interpersonal savvy, communicating clearly, instilling trust, focusing on customer needs, being action-oriented, valuing differences, engaging in self-development, and showing compassion. **Hours:** The position is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week), scheduled Monday–Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 2:30PM - 11pm with rotating weekends as needed.
