## Overview The Broadcast Operations Coordinator reports to the Utah Public Radio Station Manager. This position will oversee daily programming, special projects, and grants, while supervising and training , graduates, student employees, and volunteers. ## Responsibilities - Plans, schedules, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of UPR’s 24-hour broadcast and digital programming. - Exercises authority to post positions, interview, hire, and onboard production and on-air staff. - Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to students, and volunteers; conducts regular performance reviews. - Researches, selects, and develops high-quality content, scripts, and programming for radio broadcasts and podcasts. - Manages and oversees daily website programs, ensuring local and national news/information is accurate and timely. - Schedules program hosts and producers, arranges for guest speakers, and ensures production crews have the resources to accomplish goals. - Monitors on-air staff performance, conducts quality checks, and ensures all broadcast material aligns with UPR goals. - Serves as the primary point of contact for assigned productions; establishes project deadlines and ensures timely completion. - Manages and monitors the programming budget for local/national content; collaborates with the Business Manager to reconcile expenses. - Researches funding opportunities, collaborates with faculty on topics, and writes comprehensive grant proposals and narratives. - Collects data, maintains program records, and prepares scheduled reports to satisfy university, state, and federal grant requirements. - Serves as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, external departments, and constituencies on digital and broadcast projects. - Coordinates with fundraising teams to support programming needs and assists in creating marketing and promotional plans. - Proactively stays current with industry trends and recommends new programming or production improvements to management. - Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. ## Qualifications **Minimum Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, or a related field, plus related professional experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** - Deep understanding of radio station broadcasting operations, digital content production, and podcasting workflows. - Proficiency in operating professional broadcast, audio editing, and digital media equipment. - Strong writing, editing, and scripting skills for both over-the-air and digital/web platforms. - Ability to effectively direct, train, evaluate, and mentor students, and volunteers. - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines. - Ability to independently exercise sound judgment, creativity, and discretion when resolving varied problems. - Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students, university faculty, external partners, and the public. - Ability to analyze complex operational or production issues and apply prompt corrective action. - Knowledge of the grant-writing process, narrative development, and the navigation of sponsored institutional funding. - Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize statistical data to generate accurate compliance reports. - Basic budget management skills, including the ability to track expenditures and reconcile accounts. - Ability to critically evaluate broadcast and web content for accuracy, quality, and compliance with media standards. - Ability to stay current with evolving media trends and translate them into actionable programming recommendations. - Knowledge of computers and database, spreadsheet, and word processing software. ## Required Documents Along with the online application, please attach: - Resume/CV to be uploaded at the beginning of your application in the Candidate Profile under “Resume/CV” -…
