## Overview The wage range listed in this job requisition, reflects the current fiscal year (2026). ## Description **Job Description** **** **Title:** Brattleboro Resource Assistance Team (BRAT) **Department:** Police Department **** **Nature of work:** We are seeking compassionate and motivated people to join our team in providing community services, through a caring culture of equity, trust and collaboration. Engaging with the community and team members, with an equitable approach to all decision making while demonstrating integrity. **** **Work Schedule**: 40 hours per week; flexibility to perform shift work in a rotation of days, evenings and nights, including weekends and holidays. **Wage**: $23.78 per hour **Residency:** Employees shall be required to have their place of abode in the Town, or a bordering town, and to be bona fide residents of the Town, or a bordering town. (A bordering town is defined as any town located within Windham County, Vermont, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, or Franklin County, Massachusetts) **Supervision Received:** Directly supervised by the Sergeant and/or Lieutenant assigned to their shift or unit and is generally supervised by superior officers. A BRAT Officer is expected to exercise individual judgement, initiative, and decision making within the framework of existing rules, regulations, and within their authority. **Supervision Exercised:** None. **Essential Responsibilities:** - Work in conjunction with other response personnel in providing services to assist people in finding appropriate resources and to build better relationships in the community. - Perform a variety of routine technical and administrative work in support of departmental activities. - Take crash reports for non-investigatory, non-injury vehicle crashes. - - Assist in traffic control such as at special events or crash scenes at the direction of the Officer in Charge. - Take fingerprints, by appointment for people seeking fingerprint-supported background checks for various other reasons. - Perform excellent community interaction and establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the public and outside agencies. - Perform foot patrol in various neighborhoods to project a public safety presence and foster strong community relations. - Maintains a presence at Town buildings to include the Municipal Center, Transportation Center, Gibson Aiken Center, and the library. - Responds to non-emergent calls for service related to the downtown sector such as noise disturbances, trespassing, lockouts and loitering complaints. - Provide security escorts for business owners, employees, and patrons upon request. - Operate a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and Town. - Perform basic investigative tasks such as meeting with individuals who file a report. - - Write reports on lost or stolen property or other non-arrest type reports. **Non-Essential Duties and Tasks:** *The responsibilities and duties listed above are examples of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.* **** **Competencies Needed:** *We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills a qualifying, unless specifically stated as required.* · Graduation from high school or any combination of schooling and in-service training and experience.
