Board of Accountancy (BOA)

**TOTAL PUBLIC MEMBERS:** 5 **APPOINTMENT TYPE:** Appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council **TERM LENGTH (YEARS):** 3 **RESIDENCY:** District residency required, with strong preference for representation from all 8 wards **PAID BOARD:** No (all roles are voluntary) # **DESCRIPTION** The Board shall regulate the practice of public accountants and certified public accountants. # **COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP** The Board shall consist of the following 5 members: - 4 certified public accountants; and - 1 consumer member. # **QUALIFICATIONS** Professional members shall be licensed in the District and, at the time of their appointments, have been engaged in their practice for a period of not less than 3 years. Consumer Members shall: - Be at least 18 years of age; - Not be a practitioner of a profession or occupation supervised by that board, or in training to become one; - Not have a household member who is a practitioner of a profession or occupation supervised by that board, or in training to become one; and - Not own, operate, or be employed in or have a household member who owns, operates, or is employed in a business which has as its primary purpose the sale of goods or services to practitioners of a profession or occupation supervised by that board. # **TIME COMMITMENT** The Board of Accountancy meets every other month. *If you are interested in an appointment to this board, please complete the appointment application and attach the required documentation.
