About Level Zero Level Zero is pioneering next-generation biosensor technology for precise, real-time monitoring of critical endocrine biomarkers. Recognised as one of the top 20 startups across all categories worldwide at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024—and backed by top-tier organisations like Redalpine, SOSV, and Entrepreneur First—we’re pushing the boundaries of biochemistry and nanotechnology to revolutionize personalised health. Founded by two seasoned engineers, we bring extensive experience in R&D, technical innovation, and commercial strategy to transform the way people monitor their health. Our mission is bold: to revolutionise health management by delivering clinical-grade data directly to individuals, wherever they are. We’re seeking driven innovators to join us in pushing the boundaries of biosensing and health tech, making personalised health monitoring a reality for everyone. To achieve this ambitious vision, we’re assembling the best team in the world—dedicated to turning cutting-edge science into life-changing, real-world solutions. About The Role (Internship) We are looking for a Biosensors Research Intern (Electrochemistry) to support our electrochemical biosensor R&D team, with a focus on aptamer-based sensing and small-molecule assay development. This role is designed for an intern: you’ll work on well-defined experiments, learn our lab workflows and electrochemistry stack, and contribute data and documentation that moves projects forward. This is a full-time, in-person internship primarily based in London. What you'll do Some examples of what you might do: Support the design and execution of electrochemical experiments (e.g., voltammetry, impedimetry, chronoamperometry) under guidance Prepare buffers/solutions, handle samples (including biofluids where appropriate), and maintain good lab practice Assist with electrode cleaning and basic surface functionalisation steps following established protocols Run assay optimisation experiments (e.g., concentration ranges, incubation times, blocking conditions) and record results rigorously Carry out routine characterisation and quality checks on sensors and reagents, flagging anomalies early Contribute to Python-based data analysis and plotting (training provided as needed) and help maintain tidy datasets Help draft and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), experiment templates, and lab documentation Present progress in short weekly updates and collaborate closely with chemists, biologists, engineers, and data scientists What You Bring Essential Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical/Materials Engineering, or a related discipline Comfortable in a wet lab environment with strong attention to detail, safety, and reproducibility Foundational understanding of electrochemistry and enthusiasm to learn biosensing applications Some hands-on experience with at least one of: electrochemical measurements, surface chemistry, assay development, or analytical methods Strong organisation and note-taking skills (you keep experiments traceable and data interpretable) A proactive, creative, problem-solving mindset and willingness to ask good questions Nice to have: Prior exposure to aptamers or other biorecognition elements (even through coursework or a thesis project) Familiarity with the microfabrication techniques and microfluidic wearable platforms, including CAD modelling, lithography, and experimental setup Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DoE), basic statistics, or Python scripting for data analysis Experience working with complex matrices (e.g., serum, saliva, urine) or sample preparation Experience with SPR, molecular docking, or structural modelling Experience with Python, R, or MATLAB Who You Are We value culture as much as we value technical expertise, creating an environment that’s equal parts collaboration, curiosity, and fun We’re a fast-paced, mission-driven y…
